Wanted drug dealer injured, arrested in police encounter

Prospera News Pakistan

Bureau Report by Prospera
HYDERABAD, April 13 – In a late-night operation near the Majnoon Chang area, close to Bora Mori, Hyderabad police apprehended a high-profile drug trafficker in injured condition following what officials described as an exchange of fire, Prospera has learned.

Background and Context
The suspect, identified as Shahid alias “Misri,” son of Rahim Solangi, a resident of Husri, had long evaded arrest despite being wanted in over 35 serious criminal cases, predominantly involving drug trafficking. Local sources indicate that the Husri and Hyderabad districts have witnessed a surge in crystal meth (locally known as “ice”) availability over the past two years, with law enforcement linking much of the supply to a small network of repeat offenders—Misri being among the most elusive. Prior attempts to apprehend him had reportedly been foiled due to his use of multiple safe houses and alleged local patronage.

Details of the Incident
According to a district police spokesperson, acting on intelligence regarding Misri’s movements, a police team signaled the suspect to stop near Majnoon Chang late Sunday night. Instead of complying, Misri opened fire on the officers, striking the official police vehicle with two bullets. Police returned fire in self-defense, injuring and subsequently subduing the suspect.

Recoveries and Legal Action
Upon search, law enforcement recovered from Misri’s possession an illegal 9mm pistol with rounds and approximately 850 grams of crystal meth, a seizure authorities described as “substantial” given typical street-level quantities. The injured suspect was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment under police custody.

The spokesperson confirmed that separate cases would be registered against the accused, including offenses related to the police encounter, attempted murder of law enforcement personnel, illegal possession of firearms, and narcotics trafficking under the Controlled Substances Act.

Official Statement
“The suspect’s arrest deals a significant blow to the ice trade in the Hyderabad-Husri corridor,” the spokesperson said. “His criminal history, spanning drug sales, armed confrontations, and evasion of multiple arrest warrants, underscores the necessity of firm and measured police action.”

Prospera will continue to monitor legal proceedings and the suspect’s medical status as the investigation progresses.
