Progress Towards Smart Campus Governance – Launch of E-File System at Barani Agricultural University, Rawalpindi
The Pir Mehr Ali Shah Barani Agricultural University (PMAS-BAU) in Rawalpindi has officially launched an E-File Management System, taking a solid step toward digital transformation and smart campus governance. The system was inaugurated at a special ceremony by the university’s Vice-Chancellor (VC), Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman said the e-file system reflects the university’s long-term vision for institutional modernization and digital change. He pointed out that top universities around the world are already adopting paperless governance to make their administration more efficient, transparent, and environmentally friendly. With this move, he added, PMAS-BAU is aligning itself with international standards of digital governance.
The VC also emphasized that this isn’t just a technical upgrade. In his view, it’s a major step toward strengthening institutional governance, speeding up decision-making, and delivering better services to faculty, staff, and students. He mentioned that such future-ready digital initiatives are essential if the university wants to stay competitive in the global education landscape. On top of that, reducing paper use will also help protect the environment.
Dr. Nadeem A. Malik, Director of IT Services, also spoke at the ceremony. He said his team is introducing modern digital solutions to turn the university into a true smart campus. According to him, the e-file project – launched under the VC’s vision – will improve employee performance, save time and workforce, and result in significant financial savings for the university.
Dr. Malik further explained that the e-file management system will promote administrative transparency, cut down paperwork dramatically, and help the university move toward a tech-based and sustainable administrative environment. In short, it’s about making things faster, cleaner, and more accountable for everyone involved.
